I had class at 8:00 a.m., so I couldn’t go and check if I made the football team until 9:00 a.m.
I spent the whole class going back and forth in my thoughts: should I go and check the roster?
The bell rang and I started walking to south campus. But I turned west and went to the basement floor of the library instead of the student-athlete building. I actually never went to check my name on that roster.
I didn’t have to–I had a feeling that my name wasn’t on that list.
So I thought if I never showed up, it would hurt less.
Imagine that for a second: I played football in all of high school and trained as hard as I could in the off-season to finally achieve my dream of playing in college…
Then after trying my best, I never even showed up to see if my name was on that list.
That’s how scared I was of failure.
That’s how much I didn’t want to fall short.
So I went into a private room of the library and wallowed in my own sadness. “What if my name IS on that list…” I kept asking myself.
But I couldn’t get myself to that building. I didn’t want to face the possible reality of not being on that roster.
And that’s when I discovered the biggest secret to fitness…
Just show up.
You’re going to fail–it’s apart of the process.
But showing up today is the secret that so many fail to recognize.
Showing up eliminates the question “What if…”
What if you fall short of your goal weight on the scale… Eventually, that won’t happen because you’re going to show up today.
What if you get laughed at for looking pudgy in a bathing suit… Eventually, that won’t happen because you’re going to show up today.
What if _____(insert your fear)_____… Eventually, that won’t happen because you’re going to show up today.
Showing up today is the secret to fitness…
Don’t go to the basement floor of the library. Show up, face reality, then work hard.

P.S. Tomorrow I want to show you a few hidden benefits that being “fit” will give you, benefits you probably don’t even know exist. Here’s a sneak peek at tomorrow’s email in a video format:
Talk to you tomorrow!
