Every Memorial Day, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world perform the workout called “Murph”. This workout later received its nickname after the 29-year-old, Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, was killed in Afghanistan. He gave the ultimate sacrifice on June 28th, 2005.
“MURPH”
For Time:
Run 1-mile
100 Pull-Ups
200 Push-Ups
300 Air Squats
Run 1-mile
This beast of a workout was one of Murphy’s favorites to do with his Navy friends. As a group, they originally called it “Body Armor.” But after he died in 2005, his friends renamed this workout to “Murph” after their fallen comrade.
At RxFIT, we are grateful for the military women and men that serve our country. One of the ways we like to say thank you is to throw a big breakfast every Memorial Day after doing Murphy’s workout. We invite the entire community–military personnel, firefighters, policemen, and others, along with their family and friends–to join us in the celebration.
I want to not only invite you, but encourage you to put it on your calendar. This is my favorite event of the year and will be one you don’t want to miss. It will be well worth your time, especially since you will receive a free, GIANT breakfast full of pancakes, orange juice, fruit, and other good stuff.
Here are the dates and times of “Murph” at RxFIT this year:
- RxFIT-Springville: Saturday, May 28 at 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30 a.m.
- RxFIT-South Jordan: Monday, May 30th at 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30 a.m.
