Weightlifting Straps (Video)

I will always have weightlifting straps in my gym bag. Not only do they cost less than $5 to make ($15 on Rogue), but they take up almost no space.

The reason most athletes wear straps is because their grip is gone. For example, if you just did a metcon with a lot of toes-to-bar and pull-ups, you probably would struggle to deadlift over 80% of your 1-rep max after.

But it’s also helpful to wear straps if your hands are hurting. It sounds wimpy but everyone’s calluses get really hard and sensitive a few times a month. Instead of skipping a session when this happens, weightlifting straps help you continue to train in spite of your hands.

Here’s a quick 90-second video on how to use them properly.
