Last night, Karli and I went and got a couple’s massage — in part to spend some time together, but also because I hurt my back so bad earlier this week that I couldn’t get out of my bed by myself.
Karli ended up falling asleep quickly into the massage as I layed on my stomach, face down, eyes open, in pain, and mind racing.
The result was that she walked away feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I left stressed and anxious.
What was the difference? (other than the obvious back injury)
There’s power in being able to relax and be present. It’s a skill that can be learned. One that Karli has and I do not (yet).
Which is why I bought this book this morning.
I’ll let you know my thoughts on it next week.
